Maker Skills and Attitude:

What did i learn?

This week what the assignment to do something with processing. My teammate was Duy. We chose both information design in a previous period at school. We thought it would be nice to make a data visual physical about collaborations and different types of collaboration in the classroom. Since Duy made a square box the week before and I worked on my plexiglass we could combine it. After we made a plexiglass box we printed our designs on it with the UV printer and Duy made the holes in the plexiglass with a lot of precision work.

Collaborative Learning:

With Duy as my partner, I knew what to expect. He works neatly and accurately and is very creative with his hands. Our project went like a train and with feedback from Shirley and Loes we were able to take our collaboration box to a higher level. We did everything together from brainstorming to printing and laser cutting. We are both happy with the end result and hope that we can use the entire minor to see who are the good partners of each other.
Assignment week 2:

In pairs, design and create a “plot party” to research your peers’ preferences when it comes to working in collaborative environments. Come up with an evocative statement or question that you can invite your classmates to respond to, based on this week’s readings. The plot party should give us insight into the collaborative patterns and preferences within the group.

Process:

Brainstorm:

Duy and I started with a 20 minute brainstorm. We incorporated the conclusions of the brainstorm into a presentation sheet. In this sheet we decided to make a data visual in a plastic box. We showed how we are going to divide the sides of the box and what the top and bottom are. It also shows which materials we need to realize this and which people will participate in the data visual. We presented this concept to Shirley and Loes to get feedback on our idea.

Feedback:

Shirley came up with several ways to process our visuals. This feedback really inspired us to take the box to a higher level with better visuals.
Boxmaker:

We used boxmaker to cut the plexiglass so it can be put together as a box.

Designs:
After we had the formats we could print on it with the UV printer. We could customize the designs in illustrator.
UV Printer:

The first test with the UV printer did not go well. The printer was broken and left dark blue stripes on our design.
Drill machines:

Duy's first try with drill machines didn't go well, had to pressure with ease.
We finished the box!
We have all collected different colors of wire
